Dr. Nestor Kisilevzky is a full time Interventional Radiologist practicing in Sao Paulo City – Brazil. He was born in Argentina where he studied Medicine at the University of Buenos Aires and completed a residency in general surgery. In 1986 he moved to Sao Paulo and joined the Department of Radiology at the University of Sao Paulo where he became the Chief of Vascular and Interventional Radiology. In 1995 he left the University to found the Centro Integrado de Radiologia Intervencionista, a private group of interventional radiologists working at Hospital Santa Catarina. He has been working part time in a public hospital – Complexo Hospitalar Heliópolis – where he has developed a welfare program addressed to low-income population. Recently he has been invited to join the University of Campinas – UNICAMP – offering him a Professor position with the aim to develop a clinical and experimental research center. Dr. Kisilevzky is one of the founders and former President of the Brazilian Society of Interventional Radiology (SOBRICE) and has organized and chaired several scientific meetings in the field of Interventional Radiology. As member of the Society of Interventional Radiology he has attended the SIR Annual Scientific Meetings that took place in Washington, Fort Lauderdale, San Francisco, Orlando, San Diego, San Antonio, Baltimore and Salt Lake City. He is also member of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology Society of Europe, the Ibero American Society of Interventionism, the International Society of Endovascular Specialists and the Brazilian College of Radiology. He has been visiting some important Institutions in North America like the Miami Cardiac and Vascular Institute, the Dotter Interventional Institute in Portland and the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Dr. Kisilevzky founded and was the first editor of the “Jornal da SOBRICE”, he is part of the advisor board of the journal “The Interventionalist” and member of the reviewer board of the “Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology”. On the last years Dr. Kisilevzky has been dedicating great part of his professional time to the treatment of symptomatic fibroids through uterine embolisation. His clinical results after an initial experience of 100 cases was published in the journal Radiologia Brasileira. He has also shown the technique and trained other physicians performing life demonstrations in several cities in Brazil like Porto Alegre, Campinas, Belo Horizonte, Salvador, Brasilia and Belem, as well as Buenos Aires in Argentina and Lima in Peru. He has been invited to talk and share his experience about Fibroids Embolisation in several scientific meetings. Recently he shared with Dr. James Spies the moderation of a scientific session on UFE at the SIR Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City and also shared with Drs. Rob Kirsch and John Lipman the UFE workshop at the same meeting.
