William H. Parker, M.D., FACOG is a Gynecologist in private practice in Santa Monica, California.  Dr. Parker has expertise in abdominal myomectomy and advanced laparoscopic myomectomy and hysteroscopic surgery.  He has published extensively on his research in the areas of treatment of uterine fibroids, laparoscopic and abdominal myomectomy and laparoscopic ovarian cyst surgery.   

He is a board certified Fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and a Clinical Professor at UCLA School of Medicine.  Dr. Parker is the former chair, department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Saint John’s Hospital and Health Center in Santa Monica.

Bill is a former Editor of The Journal of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists and is on the editorial board. 

He is a Reviewer for the following journals:  Obstetrics and Gynecology, Journal of Minimally Invasive Gynecology, New England Journal of Medicine, Fertility and Sterility, and American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. 

Bill has been chosen for Best Doctors in America and for Top Doctors from 1997-2012. 

He is the author of the women’s health book  A Gynecologist’s Second Opinion. 

Dr. Parker believes that alternatives to hysterectomy should be the first options for women with problems related to fibroids and that hysterectomy should be a last resort.  He is impressed with the Internet as a tool for women’s education because it helps women become an active partner in her medical care.  In turn, this helps both the doctor and the patient when a medical decision is needed.  He has created two web sites to help educate women about gynecological medical conditions:   www.fibroidsecondopinion.com, www.gynsecondopinion.com.
