Q:
I
was having normal periods till last Jan. After that I had
delayed periods and then over bleeding. I met my Gyn
and he did a scan and told me there is a uterus cyst and
said nothing to worry and no need for surgery and I was
given tablets to regulate my periods for a few months.
I had regular monthly periods again for the past 2 months.
I didn't get my period after that. Is this a menopause sign
or due to the cyst?
A: Normal
menstrual cycles depend upon normal underlying hormonal
secretion by the brain, ovary and other organs like the
thyroid gland. When these hormones are normally produced,
they influence the endometrium to grow and shed in a cyclic
fashion.
Abnormal menses
may be due to factors at various points in the above
simplified scheme. So if your periods are not regular you
should be evaluated to determine where exactly the
abnormality is. -
